EXEMPT ORGANIZATION TAX UPDATE
8:25am to 9:40pm

An update of not-for-profit tax developments including recent legislative changes and important rulings. An overview of current tax case law that affects not-for-profit organizations. Also, a discussion of the IRS and their concentrated audit areas for not-for-profits, including unrelated business income and related developments. The presenter is Samuel J. Erkonen, partner with the law firm of Howe & Hutton, Ltd.

ACCOUNTING, AUDITING AND FINANCIAL REPORTING UPDATE
9:50am to 11:10am

An update of accounting, reporting and disclosure issues relevant to not-for-profit organizations. An overview of accounting issues in financial and grant reporting. New statements on auditing standards and how it affects your organization. The presenter is Larry Dollinger of Dollinger & Co., Certified Public Accountants. Larry is a former three-year member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Not-For-Profit Organizations Committee. During his tenure on that committee, he jointly developed the AICPA Not-For-Profit Audit And Accounting Guide.

LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT ISSUES AFFECTING NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

A review of selected labor and employment law issues affecting not-for-profit organizations, including a practical discussion of policies, procedures and practices to help such organizations reduce the risk of labor and employment litigation. The presenter is Erin Foley with the law firm Seyfarth Shaw LLP.

NOT-FOR-PROFITS AND THE BUSINESS CYCLE

Discover how anticipating changes in the business cycle will help you make better management decisions. The presenter is Robert F. Dieli, Ph.D., President of RDLB, Inc., an economic forecasting and management consulting firm based in Lombard, IL.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGNS AND MAJOR GIFT DONORS
2:45pm to 4:10pm

Developing and managing a capital campaign. How to develop a plan to attract major gift donors. The presenter is Leo Latz, Latz Bruni Partners. He shares his advice for attracting major gift and capital campaign donors.
